Firm Philosophy

A Message From Gerry Coggin:

For the past ten (10) years I have practiced exclusively in the area of Family Law. In that time, I have come to understand that when a client is sitting across from me, they are usually experiencing one of the most difficult periods in their life.

With this in mind, it has become my practice to be client-focused. Yes, it is true that all family law attorneys must operate under the same laws as they relate to separation, divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and property division. However, it is not true that each client's respective issues and goals are the same. Therefore, I strive to give each and every client the personal attention they deserve, and to convey to them that I understand their goals and unique factors related to their case.

The attorney you hire has a great deal to do with the outcome of your case. Therefore, you should look for an attorney who dedicates most of their time to the practice of Family Law. Furthermore, the attorney you hire should have a "settlement first" mentality. In other words, your attorney should first attempt to resolve your case amicably before proceeding with a lawsuit to address your situation. Likewise, it is crucial that your attorney keep an open mind to settlement opportunities along the way as your case develops.

Unfortunately, not all cases can be settled and it may become necessary to seek the Court's assistance. In this event, a lawsuit may need to be filed to address your concerns and to protect your rights. If this is the case, your attorney should have the resolve and experience to represent you vigorously pending trial and in the courtroom.

If you find that you are in need of a Family Law attorney to represent you in an ongoing case, or if you simply are in need of a consultation to explore your options, Coggin Law, PLLC, is here to help. We welcome the opportunity to serve you.
